  • Fun Run Early Registration: Any student who is registered during the early registration window (Sept. 16-23) will be entered into a drawing to win a Colorado State Park Pass. Winners will be drawn on Monday, September 26th. There will be one winner per school. Those of you who know me know that I am very competitive! Let's be the first class to get everyone registered! It is completely free, you do not have to make a donation. It just shows that your student will be participating in the Fun Run. Go to www.funrun.com to register.

  • Our class tie-dyed their Fun Run shirts today! They will be bringing their shirt home in a ziploc bag with directions on how to wash it. Please send the washed shirt back to school as soon as possible. I would like to put their names on the back and jazz them up a bit before the Fun Run!

  • Scholastic orders due September 23rd. You can shop online here, just enter the class code Q2M6Q.

  • Our library day is Friday. Students can keep their library book all week and return it each Friday morning in order to check out a new book during our library time Friday afternoon.

  • Parent teacher conferences are Monday, October 10 and Wednesday, October 13. More information to follow.

  • We have PE with Ms. Woods next week.

  • Please continue working on the September Phonological Awareness homework calendar.

What we learned this week:

  • Phonics: We practice letter sounds and letter recognition every day. We continue to work on rhyming words and syllables. We are also working on identifying initial sounds.

  • Reading: During Reading we talked about what a personal narrative is. We used context clues to help us find out the meaning of unknown words. We also talked about the author’s purpose.

  • Writing: Our focus letters this week were Pp, Ii, Nn, Cc and Kk. We practice how to form these letters and what sounds they make. We will continue to label our pictures and spell words using only the letters that we hear.

  • Math: We continued to work on numbers 0-5. We had our first unit test this week, we counted objects and wrote the numbers 0-5.

  • High Frequency words- We have learned the following words: I, a, am, the, like, eat, in, it, did, into. Continue to practice reading and writing these words at home.
