What we learned this week:

  • Phonics: We learned the letters Vv and Yy. We also reviewed all of the letters and sounds we have learned so far.

  • Reading: We started our unit on Rules at Home and School. We learned how to ask essential questions like “Who makes rules?” “Why do we need rules?” “What happens if we do not follow the rules?”. We also worked on finding the central idea of a book and finding important details to help us understand the central idea.

  • Writing: As authors we wrote our own pattern books using sentence starters.

  • Math: This week we learned to read and write the number 10. We also put numbers 1-10 in order without starting from number 1.

  • High Frequency Words: We learned the words “has”, "as", "is", "his" and "does" and focused on words that end with an "s" but makes the /z/ sound. We have learned the following words: I, a, am, the, like, eat, in, it, did, into, and, we, see, go, no, so, has, as, is, his, does. Continue to practice reading and writing these words at home.
