This week we learned:

  • Phonics: We learned the letter Xx and reviewed all the letter names and sounds of the alphabet.

  • Reading: We learned how to retell important details of the book “The First Time I…”. We learned that certain words can have two meanings eg. duck and duck etc. We also revisited Author’s purpose and the connection between illustrations and text.

  • Writing: As authors we wrote a nonfiction book about turkeys. First we did some research about wild turkeys. Then we created a can/have/are chart to take notes about turkeys. We used the information from the chart to write our books. Students read their books to a partner and received a "glow" and "grow" about their book. We even started reading our books to the class!

  • Math: This week we learned how to compare groups to 10 by matching and counting, and compare numbers using numerals to 10. We will take our Topic 4 assessment next week.

  • High Frequency Words: We reviewed many of the words we have learned so far. Words we have learned so far: I, a, am, the, like, eat, in, it, did, into, and, we, see, go, no, so, has, as, is, his, does, box, on, was, man, am, at, that, hand, ran. Continue to practice reading and writing these words at home.
