Important Dates/Reminders

• Winter Break: December 22nd - January 9th

• We have Science with Mrs. Smith for specials this week.

• Saturday, December 10th: Treats with Santa! Our second annual Santa event is happening again this year! Save the date for Saturday, December 10th from 1-3 at the Pinery Fire Station Park. Click here to register!

• Winter Celebration December 21: We will have a winter celebration in the afternoon on the last day before break. We will watch a holiday movie and have hot cocoa and popcorn. This event will just be me in the classroom with the kids, no parent volunteers needed.

What we learned:

• Phonics: We reviewed all the letter names and sounds of the alphabet. We also reviewed the Secret Story about ‘ay’ and ‘ey’.

• Reading: We read “Knuffle Bunny”, “Knuffle Bunny Too”, and “Knuffle Bunny Free”. We looked at the illustrations in order to draw inferences, retelling the story using 5 finger retell, and sorted words into different categories.

• Writing: We continued working on our pattern book unit. Coming up with different patterns we can write in our stories such as “I like…”, “I can…”, “Do you…”, “Can you…”

• Math: This week we finished up our cumulative benchmark assessment as well as started Topic 5: Classify and Count Data. We separated animals into different categories.

• High Frequency Words: This week we learned the words "little" and "play". Words we have learned so far: I, a, am, the, like, eat, in, it, did, into, and, we, see, go, no, so, has, as, is, his, does, box, on, was, man, am, at, that, hand, ran, friend, they, he, little, play. Continue to practice reading and writing these words at home.
