  • I updated the homework and resources tab on my website. I will send home more optional math pages in the future for those who would like to practice math at home.

This week we learned:

  • Phonics: We reviewed all the letter names and sounds of the alphabet. We also learned the digraphs “th”, “sh” and “ch”.

  • Reading: We started unit 4: Writers Tell Many Stories. We worked on recognizing the characteristics of a realistic fiction text, using evidence from the text and illustrations to draw inferences, and identifying words that are opposites.

  • Writing: We also started a new writing unit: Writing Books with Patterns. We immersed ourselves in different types of pattern books and learned how authors use word and picture patterns to tell stories.

  • Math: This week we finished Topic 4 and took our Topic 4 assessment. We also took a Cumulative/Benchmark assessment coving Topics 1-4

  • High Frequency Words: This week we learned the words “friend”, “they”, and “he”. Words we have learned so far: I, a, am, the, like, eat, in, it, did, into, and, we, see, go, no, so, has, as, is, his, does, box, on, was, man, am, at, that, hand, ran, friend, they, he. Continue to practice reading and writing these words at home.
