  • Read-A-Thon: January 30-February 13 Keep logging the minutes you are reading at home! You can still register your student so that they can earn reading minutes at school: https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/lvofry/1

  • Our class earned the $100 book fair shopping spree! I picked out so many awesome books for our classroom. Thank you for your help!

  • We have one more week of our Read-a-Thon! If we continue to be the top class with student registrations, minutes read, and donations, we will win a pizza party next week. Let's keep those donations coming! I already asked my mom for a donation. I will call my grandma next!

What we learned this week:
  • Reading: We started Unit 6: Stories Have a Message. We read a book called “The Boy Who Fed His People”. We use the book to make connections to our own experiences and make connections to the world around us.

  • Writing: Students started a new personal narrative book. They picked an event to write about, shared with a friend, and began to sketch the beginning, middle, and end of their story.

  • Math: We reviewed addition and went to the book fair!

  • High Frequency Words: This week we learned words with silent e: make, name, ride, came, ate. Words we have learned so far: I, a, am, the, like, eat, in, it, did, into, and, we, see, go, no, so, has, as, is, his, does, box, on, was, man, am, at, that, hand, ran, friend, they, he, little, play, men, red, help, end, yes, went, get, way, away, say, day, run, up, under, must, make, came, ride, name, ate. Please continue to practice reading and writing these words at home.
