What we learned this week:
Reading: We read “The No-Tech Day of Play” and discussed what activities kids could do instead of using technology. They came up with a lot of fun ideas like play tag, play a board game, play with toys, and draw. We identified the characters and setting of the story using details from the text and illustrations. Students also learned how to synthesize information by combining important details and original thinking to create new understanding.
Writing: Students sketched the beginning, middle, and end of their personal narratives. Then they wrote a sentence (or more) to describe their important events.
Math: We are wrapping up our addition unit. Students practiced listening to an addition number story, drawing a picture and writing an equation to solve the problem.
High Frequency Words: This week we learned short u words: run, under, up, must. Words we have learned so far: I, a, am, the, like, eat, in, it, did, into, and, we, see, go, no, so, has, as, is, his, does, box, on, was, man, am, at, that, hand, ran, friend, they, he, little, play, men, red, help, end, yes, went, get, way, away, say, day, run, up, under, must. Please continue to practice reading and writing these words at home.
