The Book Fair is the week of January 30th. Book Fair flyers were sent home yesterday. If you would like your child to shop at the Book Fair during our designated shopping time, please send in cash or printed out e-wallet. Instructions for adding money to their e-wallet are on the half-sheet that was also sent home.

If you did not do so already, please send in 3-4 pictures of your student for our personal narrative writing unit so that they can write about the event in the picture. Make sure they are events that they remember and can give details about (examples: birthday party, family vacation, sports, etc.)
February 14th: Valentine’s Day Party 9:15-10:15am, families are welcome to join the party! More info coming soon!

Reading: We read “How to Make a Solar Oven” and discussed characteristics of a How-to text. We also talked about the author’s purpose. What is the author’s purpose of a How-to book? To inform or teach the reader how to do something!
Writing: We used our pictures to plan out 3 different events that we could write about. We then chose one of the events and told the story over our fingers.
Math: We continued learning about addition. Students learned how to write a plus sign and equals sign in their equations.
High Frequency Words: This week we reviewed the “ay” words from last week. Ask your student about the “ay” Secret Story! Words we have learned so far: I, a, am, the, like, eat, in, it, did, into, and, we, see, go, no, so, has, as, is, his, does, box, on, was, man, am, at, that, hand, ran, friend, they, he, little, play, men, red, help, end, yes, went, get, way, away, say, day. Please continue to practice reading and writing these words at home.
