August 15 - 19

Important Dates & Info:
  • Please make sure to pack 2 snacks that are separate from your student's lunch box, as well as a water bottle. Talk to your child about where their snack is in their backpack so that they are able to find it easily each morning.

  • We will have P.E. for specials this week. Make sure your student is wearing comfortable shoes that they can run around in!

  • Continue practicing lunch numbers at home. Students who buy lunch from the cafeteria will have to know their number and type it in themselves. Students can also buy bottled water or milk at lunch time if they have enough money in their account.

  • If anyone is willing and able to donate some extra snacks, we would greatly appreciate it! Examples: goldfish, fruit snacks, granola bars.

  • We still ask for nut-free snacks (even though it looks like we don't have any nut allergies in our class) because we eat snack outside with other classes and there might be nut allergies in another class. Students may have nuts in their lunch because there is a nut-free table for students to sit at if they have allergies.

  • 8/23 Back to School Night: There will be 2 different sessions covering the same information. The first session starts at 5:10pm and the second session starts at 5:40pm.

What we learned last week:
  • Reading: We read "Have You Filled A Bucket Today?" and "How Full is Your Bucket?" and talked about what it means to fill someone else's bucket. It also fills your bucket when you fill someone else's! Kindies practiced being kind and helping others.

  • Writing: We used our writing journals for the first time! Students learned how to find the page they need to write on using their string book marker, writing on the lines, and drawing a picture that matches their words in the blank white space at the top of their page.

  • Math: Students were introduced to different math manipulatives and how to use them correctly. Students explored with pattern blocks, geoboards, polydrons, and unifix cubes. We do a daily Number Corner time where we talk about the date, how many days we have been in school, counting by ones, fives, and tens, and discuss the patterns we see on the calendar markers.

Scroll through the pictures to see what the Kindies were up to last week!
