What we learned this week:
  • Reading: We read the book “Alvaro’s Snow Day”. The book is written like a play/drama. We discussed dialogue and stage directions. We also talked about how illustrations can help you understand the text and use context clues.

  • Writing: We worked on “How-to” writing this week. We made lemonade and participated in paper plate skating around the room. Then we wrote the steps we took to complete these tasks.

  • Math: We continued learning about teen numbers. We used drawings and equations to make the numbers 11-19. We also worked on finding parts of the numbers 11, 12, and 13 when one part is 10. Students should have brought home their Topic 8 and 9 tests.

  • High Frequency Words: This week we learned the words “me”, “come”, “here”, “away”. Words we have learned so far: I, a, am, the, like, eat, in, it, did, into, and, we, see, go, no, so, has, as, is, his, does, box, on, was, man, am, at, that, hand, ran, friend, they, he, little, play, men, red, help, end, yes, went, get, way, away, say, day, run, up, under, must, and, you, there, big, with, very, our, out, all, good, no, for, jump, one, girl, are, here, your, have, said, two, love, when, look, me, come, here, away. Please continue to practice reading and writing these words at home.
